Conservation Land Stewardship, LLC, (CLS) is seeking hard working, experienced individual(s) with a strong background in project management in the field of natural resources and ecology.  CLS provides a full array of horticultural, ecological restoration and maintenance, streambank/shoreline restoration and consulting services to clients in the private and public sectors throughout the Midwest .


Position Description and Responsibilities:    Selected candidate will work collaboratively with our project developers, biologists, and other project managers. The position involves a variety of work including stream/wetland restoration design and construction, technical report writing, and management of a variety of projects that include monitoring, management and ecological restoration. The key focus of this position is to perform an active role in the development and management of new projects. This includes preparation of proposals, project and crew management, networking, identifying new client relationships, and project opportunities. This may include attending conferences/workshops and public speaking. Job responsibilities include:


  • Provide senior level technical expertise to clients and team
  • Native and invasive plant ID required.
  • Provide routine management of multiple projects at one time, preparing/reviewing/implementing work and construction plans, invoicing and labor tracking, performing final QA/QC of work performed, and supervision of crews and subcontractors as merited;
  • Insure clear and effective communication with clients and co-workers, including preparation of written technical reports
  • Drive the sales process, generate project opportunities, prepare bids and proposals, and perform administrative duties, as needed.


Required qualifications:  Potential candidates must be a college graduate with a minimum of a four-year degree in biology, botany, ecology, conservation, environmental science, or related fields. A minimum of 6 years’ experience, working in the natural resources field performing ecological restoration work and habitat restoration consulting is required. Prescribed burn experience and S130/S190 certification required. Certified burn manager a plus. Desired professional credentials include ISA, ESA Certified Ecologist, and/or CPESC.


Candidate(s) must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs and Google. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record. Long hours and some travel may be required. We are seeking teamwork-oriented individual with excellent written and oral communication skills, professional work ethic with attention to detail and safety.


Additional information: Full time position, starting date to be determined. Excellent Compensation based on qualifications and experience.  Pre-employment Drug Screen and E-Verify Social Security verification required.
